Iranian Teenager Ebrahim Hamidi Faces Execution

Every time I come across news alerts like this my heart drops and my eyes water up. It’s hard to believe that there are still countries in the world that kills gay people, sometimes based just on allegations which often times are baseless. Ebrahim Hamidi (18) is facing possible execution due to a false allegation of homosexual assault. Even though his accuser made a formal statement withdrawing his charge stating that he made the whole thing up, Hamidi still faces the death penalty and he needs your help.

Iran is notorious for its human rights abuses of homosexuals and the public floggings and executions of gays, lesbians and bisexuals. In Iran homosexuality is still punishable by death, and they still carry out these executions. The public execution in 2005 of Ayaz Marhoni and Mahmoud Asgari are still fresh in my memory and I am outraged that this may happen again.

Please help support Ebrahim Hamidi by writing to your politicians, diplomats and local newspapers. Make them aware of this atrocity and ask them to intervene. Please spread the word of Hamidi’s dire situation, show him your support and maybe a global campaign and awareness could halt his execution.

I'm a Jewish modern woman. I know many Arab Muslims are good people, they not agree with this. but have to keep quiet to avoid being punished too.

But, these Islamics laws; racists and hypocritical, are the actual cause of the differences between muslim and the modern world.

The wars motive are not the lands old Israeli, Palestine, Samaria, Judea or Golan for the terror cause Arabic. The real difference among the Jewish freedom and muslim are the customs and the education of persons.

- So, Israel and all modern world are dangerous for the Islamic fundamentalists. Our modernization, our culture, are dangerous to the "Status Quo" Muslim Leaders.

I loved your post.

Isn't it unbelievably sad?
It breaks my heart. But I thought you might like some good news too. In California, USA the law banning gay marriage (it is calld Proposition 8) was just shot down!
I am very happy about this. Hope other states in the US and other countries follow suit.

@ Isha Shiri, I believe that we should respect all cultures & religions. This respect should be mutual. However, this should not mean that we can't be objective and critical of those cultures especially if they propagate human rights abuses.

Thanks for your comment, you make a valid point. Islamic fundamentalists are not that different from other fundamentalists - they are all dangerous!

@ Multi-Ainjo, Proposition 8 have been a thorn in the GLBT's community's side. I'm pleased California shot it down. Now if only all states in the USA will do the same.

Thanks for this good news. Small victories wins wars!
